Google current CEO Sundar Pichai has been appointed as the CEO of Alphabet as well.
On this new development, Pichai said "I'm excited about Alphabet and its long term focus on tackling big challenges through technology. I'm looking forward to continuing to work with Larry and Sergey in our new roles. Thanks to them, we have a timeless mission, enduring values, and a culture of collaboration and exploration. It's a strong foundation on which we will continue to build"
Alphabet is the parent company of Google. Larry Page and Sergey Brin were the CEO and president respectively, which they are leaving effectively immediately on December 3, 2019. As they were leaving their current posts, they said that it is a better way to run the company. They felt that there is no need to have two CEOs and a President for Alphabet and Google.
Referring to any impact on business due to the management change decision, Pichai said "I want to be clear that this transition won't affect the Alphabet structure or the work we do day to day. I will continue to be very focused on Google and the deep work we're doing to push the boundaries of computing and build a more helpful Google for everyone. At the same time, I'm excited about Alphabet and its long term focus on tackling big challenges through technology,"
Larry Page and Sergey Brin are said to continue to be part of the company board of directors and also as co-founders, shareholders.
